March 2010 Quotes - How Lucky Are You?

The tradeshow season has monopolized essentially all of my attention the last couple of months and especially the last few weeks, as I prepare the informational materials to be presented. Of course, this has meant paying less attention to my primary position responsibilities, so although the stress of the presentations is gone and I feel duly accomplished, I now turn my attention to the work neglected during my preoccupation to confront all the other projects I have to tackle. Roar!

In non-work-related matters, yesterday the majority of the nation set their clocks forward an hour for Daylight Savings, robbing us of an hour sleep, but lengthening the day and promising summer - yippee! The challenges at the office were more easily left behind with so much sunlight and warmth left to enjoy in the day!

I insist to maintain focus on the task at hand, which is to share some thoughtful quotes appropriate for this month, especially before I find the month is gone! I’ve long ago accepted I have very little concept of time - my days move far too fast to notice the calendar. :)

As an Irish lass myself, I feel it best to impart a few gems of luck… or some at least scribed by an Irish soul. Of all the many themes I’ve posted about over the years, the Luck of the Irish has yet to be one! Let’s see what I can find…

“Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.” - Seneca

“I’m a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it.” - Thomas Jefferson

“Luck has a peculiar habit of favoring those who don’t depend on it” - unknown

“Luck is the idol of the idle.” - proverb

“Some luck lies in not getting what you thought you wanted but getting what you have, which once you have got it you may be smart enough to see is what you would have wanted had you known.” - Garrison Keillor

“Shallow men believe in luck. Strong men believe in cause and effect.” ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

And finally, just for fun and I’m sure I would have dressed and wrote as a man too in the early 19th century: “Dear World, I am leaving because I am bored. I feel I have lived long enough. I am leaving you with your worries in this sweet cesspool. Good luck” - George Sanders

I hope everyone has a safe and celebratory St. Patrick’s Day! Kiss me - I’m Irish! xoxo
